Providing older adults the opportunity to access FREE weekly sport based sessions and social activities in the local community to help increase physical activity levels and reduce social isolation
Leyton Orient Trust have been delivering a range of activities to adults aged 50+ for over six years. The aim of the On Your Toes project is simple - to engage the older community to improve their physical, mental and social wellbeing by taking part in regular activities. Each weekly session comprises of three key elements - strength, mobilisation, balance and coordination work, a core activity and a time to socialise. Sessions are fully inclusive and refreshments are provided.
A range of activities are offered during the programme including:
- Tai Chi with Tea
- Carpet Bowls
- Chair Based Exercise
- Movement to Music
- Walking Sports
- Computer Club
- Arts and Crafts
- Reminiscence Sessions
- Armchair Olympics
For those that are not sporty, we still invite everyone to come along for the social aspect to make new friends and catch up over light refreshments.
Sessions are FREE and no prior experience is needed for any of the activities, our friendly tutors and community champions will be on hand to help out!
