Combining football with cycling we've developed a fun five week long programme to improve cycling confidence and increase active travel opportunities..
Starting in January 2016, Leyton Orient Trust have joined forces with Mini Holland to run a new three year project aimed at teaching both adults and children to cycle confidently on the roads.
Each programme will last for five weeks running on two nights of the week consisting of 5 one and a half hour sessions held in and around the stadium and at SCORE. Sessions will focus on the basics, riding on the road under instruction and bike maintenance workshops all followed by a 30 minute football session held at SCORE. Sessions will also include ‘Explore your area rides’ building on the new infrastructure improvements that the Mini-Holland project is bringing to the Borough.
At the end of each 5 week block, participants will take part in a group ride to a game headed by an experienced and trained ride leader in a ‘cycle bus’ following a route to pick up all cyclists on the way to the football ground. On arrival they'll receive a FREE ticket to watch the match too!
In 2017, the following sessions will be running:
Group 1 - Students and young people: Mondays and Fridays - COMPLETED
Group 2 - Families: Wednesdays 26th April to 24th May (5.30pm to 7.00pm) and Thursdays 27th April to 25th May (5.00pm to 6.30pm)
